The Process

After our initial conversation and after you have completed the Confidential Questionnaire, the first step in the CMIID process is for us to have an in-depth and personal consultation with you, your significant other and any potential partners that have a role in the decision-making process. I want to stress how important it is to include your significant other in this process. Someone wiser than me once said that you can either do this TO your spouse or WITH your spouse and I couldn’t agree more. Let’s include them!
During this consultation I will dig really deep to discover the business characteristics that are important to you, the role you plan to play in the business and your motivations for franchise ownership.

I will ask what feels like a million questions to determine the business characteristics that match with what you are trying to accomplish. Questions touching on topics such as:
• Lifestyle – what lifestyle are you trying to achieve?
• What do you enjoy doing professionally and personally?
• What do you not enjoy?
• What industries appeal to you?
• Investment level
• Ownership structure – owner/operator, multi-unit, etc
• Your role in the business

A thorough Consultation usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes and forms the basis for selecting YOUR best fit in franchise opportunities. The Consultation is a critical part of the CMIID process because it helps me get to know you and learn what we are trying to solve for.

Once we have completed your consultation, I will then use our conversation points to create a customized and personal Model that is specific to YOU. Your Model will identify the attributes you feel are important as well as the characteristics of your ideal business and will summarize your ideal scenario for topics such as:

• Number and type of employees you wish to manage
• Hours you wish to work in your business
• How quickly you want to business to open
• Leadership role you envision taking within your new organization such as:

• • Owner/Operator
  • Sales Leader
  • Manage the Manager
  • Empire Builder

• What you are trying to solve for long term
• And more

I will then identify find 3-4 concepts that fit your model and that have territory available today.

We are now about halfway through your investigation, and this is where the fun really begins! Once I have identified the concepts that fit your personalized Model, we will set up a separate call where I will introduce 3-4 exciting concepts.

During that call, we will review the concepts at a high level and discuss how and why these concepts match your Model. After the call, I will then provide these franchisors with your contact information, your Model and your CQ.

From there, you can expect the franchisors to begin reaching out to you to set up initial calls within 24 hours.

The next several weeks will be among the most exciting, anxious and rewarding times of your life!  During this time, you will be investigating 3-4 concepts to find out if they are the right fit for YOU.  Depending on you, this process could take 3 or 4 weeks or longer – but it won’t drag on forever because the franchise companies that you will work with are looking for franchise partners that are able to follow their process and make a decision.

The Investigation takes a commitment from you.  That commitment is that you will:

• Keep an open mind and engage with each concept.
• Spend the time necessary to have your questions answered – at least until you decide that that concept is not the right one for you. If you feel a concept is not right for you, let me know and I will close your file with that concept.
• Be engaged and committed to the process. Remember, the franchise companies are evaluating you at the same time that you are evaluating them.  They want to ensure that the candidates that they award franchises to will follow their systems and be a great partner.  This is their first indication if you will be that person.
• Be committed to making an informed decision. You will either decide to become a franchise owner or not, and either path you take is ok.  But commit to getting the information required so that you can make an informed business decision.

Please note, I cannot do your research for you. Only YOU can conduct a thorough and complete investigation of franchise opportunities to determine if one is right for you. But you can be confident that following my CMIID process will help you make the best possible decision as you pursue your dream of business ownership.
